Electromagnetic Eddy-Current Type Thickness Gauge

The eddy current thickness gauge generates a high-frequency magnetic field through the probe, inducing eddy currents on the surface of the metal substrate. The intensity of the eddy currents varies with the thickness of the non-conductive coating, and the instrument detects the changes in the magnetic field to convert them into thickness values. It is used to measure the thickness of coatings such as paint, plastic, and ceramic on metal substrates and is suitable for on-site testing in industries such as automotive and home appliances.
Selection
When selecting, confirm the substrate properties and conductivity. Use high-frequency models for non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper, and low-frequency models for steel. Choose the measurement range based on the coating thickness range. Use a small probe for curved surfaces and low-frequency compensation for rough surfaces. A probe with good temperature stability is required, and consider the instrument's calibration methods and data storage capabilities.
