Pigment film thickness Gauge

The paint film thickness gauge measures coating thickness through magnetic induction or eddy current principles. The magnetic induction method is used for steel substrates, while the eddy current method is used for non-ferrous metal substrates. The instrument's probe contacts the coating to generate an electromagnetic field, and the film thickness value is calculated based on changes in the magnetic field. It is used for coating quality control in industries such as paints, electroplating, and plastics.
Selection
When selecting, confirm the substrate type: use magnetic induction for ferrous materials and eddy current for non-ferrous materials. Consider the measurement range to cover the sample thickness. Choose a small probe for curved surfaces and a pointed probe for rough surfaces. Calibration sheets are required to verify accuracy. Portable models are suitable for on-site use, while benchtop models are ideal for laboratory settings. Check whether the instrument's error range meets standard requirements.
