Pigment Hegman Grind Gauge

The pigment grind gauge determines the particle size of solid particles in dispersion systems such as pigments and inks by scraping a coating sample into a gradient film using a wedge-shaped groove scraper with a scale. The reading corresponding to the position where particles become visible is observed, which is used to inspect the fineness of grinding in paint production and quality control.
Selection
When selecting, consider matching the viscosity range of the material being tested with the scraper type. For conventional coatings, choose a range of 0–25 μm or 0–50 μm, and for high-precision testing, use 0–15 μm. The stainless steel material is corrosion-resistant, and the dual-groove design improves efficiency. Check the clarity of the scale and the flatness of the scraper, and verify the instrument's accuracy using standard samples.
