    A refractometer determines the concentration of a solution by measuring the refraction angle of light as it passes from air into the liquid, based on Snell's law. It is used to measure the solid content of paints and inks, the purity of plastic monomers, and the concentration of paper pulp. To operate, simply place a sample drop on the prism and read the refractive index data.

    Select a handheld or benchtop model based on the state of the substance to be tested; the measurement range must cover the refractive index interval of the sample; choose a sapphire prism for chemical samples and a glass prism for food samples; the temperature compensation function should accommodate on-site fluctuations; data transmission interfaces such as USB or Bluetooth are optional.
