Spiral Wire Film Coating Rod

The wire-wound coating bar forms a gap through the precise steel wire wound around the surface of the metal rod, retaining a quantitative amount of coating material on the substrate to create a wet film during the scraping process. It is used in laboratories to simulate roll coating and scraping processes, preparing standard-thickness coatings on surfaces such as paper and plastic films. It is also used in conjunction with dry film thickness gauges for quality testing of properties such as hiding power and color difference.
Selection
When selecting, consider the substrate's flatness and width matching the rod length. Choose the wet film thickness corresponding to the wire gap based on the paint viscosity. The corrosion resistance of nylon coating rods is suitable for water-based systems, while stainless steel is better suited for solvent-based coatings. The spiral winding structure provides easier control over coating uniformity compared to straight winding.
