Cardboard Gloss Meter

The paper gloss meter projects light onto the surface of the paper at a fixed angle, measures the intensity of the reflected light, and calculates the gloss value. It is used to detect the reflective properties of paper coatings or printed surfaces, and to assess surface smoothness in paper production and print quality monitoring.
Selection
When selecting, consider matching the measurement angle to the sample gloss range: use 20° for high gloss, 60° for standard gloss, and 85° for low gloss. Ensure the instrument complies with the ASTM D1223 standard and that the calibration plate comes with a traceability certificate. The probe material should be wear-resistant and suitable for continuous use in production line environments.

Glossmeter 75-degree angle measurement for paper gloss
This article introduces the principle and method of measuring paper gloss using a 75-degree specular gloss meter. Haze meter detects haze on high-gloss coating surfaces
Haze is the phenomenon where a high-gloss coating surface causes a blurring of reflected images due to light scattering, which reduces visual clarity. A haze meter quantifies the haze value by measuring the intensity ratio between the specularly reflected light and the scattered light at specific small angles. The lower the value, the clearer the surface.
