Dial-Reading Shore DuroMeter

A pointer-type Shore durometer measures the softness or hardness of non-metallic materials, such as rubber and plastics, by using a spring-driven indenter to strike the material surface. The rebound height determines the reading on the pointer scale. It is commonly used for rapid testing in production environments like tire and seal manufacturing.
Selection
When selecting, consider that the material thickness should be greater than 6 mm, and the test surface should be flat. Choose Type A (general purpose) or Type D (hard material) specifications according to the standards. The ambient temperature should be maintained at 23 ± 5℃. Regularly calibrate the spring force using standard hardness blocks. Portable models are suitable for on-site use, while benchtop models are ideal for fixed laboratory applications.
