Hand scraping Rod

The hand Coater applies a uniform wet film of paint or ink onto a substrate surface using grooves on the rod to control coating thickness. It is routinely used in laboratories for rapid evaluation of properties such as color, hiding power, and leveling, commonly employed in quality inspection and formulation development for coatings and inks.
Selection
Select the rod material based on the viscosity of the sample to be tested. Stainless steel is suitable for conventional samples, while plastic rods are appropriate for corrosive materials. Match the groove depth according to the coating thickness requirements, with a range of 25–100 μm for routine testing. Ensure the rod length covers the width of the substrate. After use, promptly clean the grooves with solvent to maintain cleanliness.
