Porosity Determination Apparatus

A porosity analyzer measures the ratio of the volume of internal pores to the total volume of a material using gas adsorption or mercury intrusion porosimetry. It is used to evaluate the permeability and storage capacity of porous materials such as filter media and catalyst supports. It is routinely employed in quality testing for ceramics and construction materials.
Selection
Select gas adsorption (for micropores) or mercury intrusion porosimetry (for macropores) based on the pore size range of the material. Consider matching the measurement gas to the sample properties and ensure that the instrument's measurement range covers the porosity range to be tested. Verify the calibration capability using reference materials and pay attention to the sample pretreatment equipment.
