The hiding power paper for colored paint is a test card paper featuring alternating black and white intervals. It is used to determine the hiding ability by observing the disappearance of the black-white boundary after the paint is evenly applied. The principle is based on the difference in light reflection between dark and light areas, where a sufficiently thick paint film can completely obscure the underlying pattern. This tool is employed in paint production for rapid testing of hiding performance, ensuring effective coverage of the substrate's base color during application.

Selection

When selecting, pay attention to the flatness of the paper base and the uniformity of the coating, ensuring sharp and clear boundaries between black and white areas. Consider matching the viscosity range of the test paint with the paper's absorbency. Typically, paper with a basis weight of 80-120 g/m² is used. Control the temperature and humidity in the laboratory environment to avoid paper deformation, which could affect test accuracy. Compare the results with standard color difference charts for interpretation, and select whiteness and blackness values that comply with industry standards.
