The falling ball viscometer determines viscosity by measuring the vertical falling speed of a steel ball in a liquid. The falling time is proportional to the viscosity of the liquid, directly reflecting the fluid flow resistance. It is used for quality control of Newtonian fluids such as coatings and inks, featuring simple operation and suitability for transparent samples.
Selection
When selecting, consider matching the viscosity range of the fluid being measured with the instrument's measuring range. Prioritize models with corrosion-resistant sphere materials. A constant temperature device is required to ensure measurement stability. Pay attention to the ratio of the sample tube size to the sphere diameter to ensure an unobstructed falling ball path. Transparent samples are suitable for direct-reading types, while opaque samples should be measured using electromagnetic induction types.
