Blade Wire Rod

The doctor blade wire rod removes excess coating material through grooves of specific depth engraved on the surface of the metal rod during coating, allowing only the coating material within the grooves to transfer onto the substrate, forming a uniform wet film. It is used for preparing coating films in laboratory settings for paints and inks, enabling control over coating thickness for performance testing.
Selection
Select the wire-wound rod specification according to the wet film thickness required by the test standard, where the groove depth corresponds to the coating thickness. Adjust the wire diameter based on the viscosity of the coating, opting for a larger wire diameter for high viscosity. Switch to a spiral-wound rod if substrate flatness is a concern. Clean immediately with solvent after use to prevent clogging.
