pH Detection Paper

pH test paper operates on the principle of acid-base indicator color change, where the color of the paper varies with the hydrogen ion concentration when exposed to a liquid. The acidity or alkalinity of a solution is determined by comparing the color against a reference color chart. It is widely used for rapid laboratory testing, industrial process monitoring, and preliminary screening of water quality.
Selection
When selecting, consider the measurement accuracy requirements. Universal pH test strips cover the full range of 1–14, while precision test strips are divided into increments of 0.2–0.3 pH units. Pay attention to the chemical properties of the solution to be tested; strong oxidizers require specialized test strips. Store them in a dry, dark place to prevent moisture and light exposure, and check the expiration date to ensure the activity of the indicator.
