Overview
LENETA WC-12 Mayer Rods, also known as Wire-wound drawdown bar coating applicator or Mayer Rod, is a laboratory tool for preparing coatings into specific Film thickness films. Designed for Spreader on standard size baseplates and cardboard, the Spreader is 254 mm wide and can be prepared for wet-film approximately 20 microns thick.
Features
A wide range of wire diameters, covering 0.064 to 1.9 mm (2.5 to 75 mil), corresponding to the preparatory film Film thickness range of 4.5 to 150 microns (0.18 to 6 mil).
2. Spreader has a width of 254 mm (10 inches) and is suitable for most standard size baseplates and cardboard.
3. The total length of the rod body is 305 mm (12 inches), and there are 25 mm long hand-held parts at both ends, making it easy to operate.
4. The rod diameter is 12.7 mm (1/2 inch), providing good rigidity.
5. Made of all stainless steel, corrosion-resistant, it will not rust even when exposed to water-based paints, and it is nonmagnetic, which can be used with the steel plate on the magnetic card.
Principle
Mayer Rods work by tightly wound wires (wires) on its surface. As the rod rolls on a coated substrate, the wound wires scrape off excess paint, leaving a uniform wet-film coating on the substrate that corresponds to the wire diameter (wire diameter). Film thickness is controlled.
Applications
Paint prepatives, laboratory films, quality control, R & D testing
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. Apply an appropriate amount of the coating to be tested to one end of the substrate.
Place Mayer Rods (e.g. WC-12) at the starting end of the paint, ensuring that the rod is in full contact with the substrate.
3. Pull the coating applicator smoothly forward (or backward) at a uniform speed and appropriate pressure to roll it over the paint area.
4. Lift the coating applicator, leaving a wet-film coating with uniform film thickness on the substrate.
Notice
• Before use, make sure the coating applicator is clean, drying and free of previous residue.
• When operating, it is necessary to maintain a uniform speed and smooth pulling to avoid pause or uneven speed to ensure that the film Film thickness is consistent.
• Select the appropriate bar type (wire diameter) according to the desired wet film thickness.
• After use, the coating applicator should be thoroughly cleaned with a suitable solvent in time to prevent the coating curing from clogging the seam.
Store in a drying place to avoid bumping to protect the wrapped wire.
