Overview
LENETA WC-20 Mayer Rods, also known as Wire-wound drawdown bar coating applicator or Mayer Rod, is a laboratory tool for preparing coatings into film thickness films. This model of coating applicator is made of all stainless steel, with a Spreader width of 254mm, a rod length of 305mm, and a 25mm hand grip at each end. The rod diameter is 12.7mm, which has good rigidity.
Features
Wide range of wire diameters: available in a variety of specifications from 0.064mm to 1.9mm (2.5 to 75mils).
2. Adjustable film Film thickness: It can be prepared with wet-film of 4.5μm to 150μm (0.18 to 6mils) Film thickness.
3. Standard Spreader Width: The Spreader width is 254mm (10 inches), suitable for most standard size baseplates and cardboard.
4. Ergonomic design: The total length of the rod is 305mm (12 inches), and there are 25mm long hand-held parts at both ends, which is easy to operate.
5. Sturdy and durable: The rod diameter is 12.7mm (1/2 inch), providing good rigidity.
6. High-quality material: all stainless steel, corrosion-resistant, anti-rust, suitable for water-based paints, and nonmagnetic material, can be used with the steel plate on the magnetic card.
Principle
Mayer Rods controls the Spreader Film thickness with a precision wire wound on its surface. When the operator pours the paint on the substrate and scrapes it with a coating applicator at uniform speed and pressure, the wound wire scrapes off the excess paint, leaving a wet-film coating of uniform Film thickness on the substrate surface, determined by the wire diameter.
Applications
Coating R & D and testing, inks performance evaluation, Adhesive Spreader, laboratory sample prepative, quality control
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. Select the appropriate diameter Spreader rod to match the target wet film thickness.
2. Pour the paint to be tested onto one end of the substrate.
3. Hold the handles at both ends of the coating applicator and contact the Spreader rod with the substrate at an angle of about 60 degrees.
4. At a uniform and stable speed and pressure, pull the coating applicator in the direction of the body and scrape the paint.
5. Lift the coating applicator to obtain a uniform wet-film coating while it is drying.
Notice
• Please select the appropriate coating applicator model according to the required wet film thickness before use.
• Maintain uniform scraping speed and pressure during operation to ensure consistent film thickness.
• After use, the coating applicator should be cleaned with a suitable solvent in time to prevent coating curing residues.
• Please keep it properly to avoid bumping and damaging the entangled wire.
• This product is made of all stainless steel, but it is still recommended to clean and dry it after long-term contact with corrosive chemicals.
