Overview
LENETA WC-26 Mayer Rods is a laboratory tool for preparing coatings into film thickness films, also known as Wire-wound drawdown bar coating applicator, Mayer Rod, or wrap bar. The model WC-26 has a wire diameter of 0.66mm and can be used to prepare wet-films approximately 47µm (1.8mil) thick. Spreader width is 254mm, which is suitable for most standard size baseplates and cardboard.
Features
1. Wide range of wire diameters: models with a variety of wire diameter specifications from 0.064mm to 1.9mm (2.5 to 75mils) are available, and the wire diameter of the WC-26 model is 0.66mm.
2. Controllable film Film thickness: Different models can be prepared with a wet-film thickness of 4.5 µm to 150 µm (0.18 to 6 mils), and the WC-26 model corresponds to about 47 µm (1.8 mil).
3. Reasonable size design: Spreader width is 254mm (10 inches), the total length of the rod body is 305mm (12 inches), and there are 25mm hand-held parts at both ends. The rod diameter is 12.7mm (1/2 inch) to provide good rigidity.
4. Durable material: made of all stainless steel, corrosion-resistant, even in contact with water-based paints is not easy to rust, and is nonmagnetic, can be used with the steel plate on the magnetic card.
Principle
The Mayer Rods scrape the pre-applied paint onto a uniform wet-film with film thickness determined by the diameter of the wire by rolling a tightly wound wire (wire) on the substrate. The height of the wire determines the final film thickness of the coating.
Applications
Coating R & D and testing, inks performance evaluation, Adhesive Spreader, laboratory sample prepative, quality control
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. Select Mayer Rods with the appropriate wire diameter (corresponding to the desired wet film thickness).
2. Pour or drop an appropriate amount of the paint to be tested on one end of the substrate.
3. Hold the hand-held part at both ends of the bar and place the wound end of it smoothly in front of the paint.
4. At a uniform speed and appropriate pressure, pull the bar towards the other end of the substrate to make the paint a uniform film.
5. After finishing the Spreader, clean the bar in time.
Notice
• Before use, select the appropriate bar type according to the desired wet film thickness.
• Maintain uniform speed and smooth pulling during operation to ensure uniform film.
• After use, the bar should be thoroughly cleaned with a suitable solvent immediately to prevent the coating from drying up and affecting the subsequent use accuracy.
• Avoid bumping or bending the bar, so as not to damage the winding structure and affect the Spreader effect.
• This product is a precision tool, please keep it safe.
