Overview
LENETA WC-55 Mayer Rods is a laboratory tool for preparing coatings into film thickness films, also known as the Wire-wound drawdown bar coating applicator or Mayer Rod. This model is made of all stainless steel with a wire diameter of 1.40mm (55mil) and can be prepared for wet-film of approximately 106µm (4.2mil) thick. Spreader width is 254mm (10 inches).
Features
1. Wide range of wire diameters: Available in a variety of specifications from 0.064mm to 1.9mm (2.5 to 75mils), the WC-55 model has a wire diameter of 1.40mm (55mil).
2. Film Film thickness controllable: It can prepare wet-film with a film thickness of 4.5 µm to 150 µm (0.18 to 6 mils), and the corresponding film thickness of WC-55 is about 106 µm (4.2 mil).
3. Reasonable size design: Spreader width is 254mm (10 inches), suitable for most standard baseplates; the total length of the rod body is 305mm (12 inches), and there are 25mm hand-held parts at both ends, which is easy to operate; the rod diameter is 12.7mm (1/2 inch), providing good rigidity.
4. Durable material: Made of all stainless steel, corrosion resistant, suitable for water-based paints, and nonmagnetic material, can be used with steel plates on magnetic cards.
Principle
Measurement of paint by Mayer Rods uses precision wires (wires) wound on its surface. When the coating applicator pulls uniformly on the substrate, a gap is formed between the wound wires and the substrate, through which the paint flows and spreads on the substrate, resulting in a layer of wet-film with uniform Film thickness and determined by the diameter of the wire.
Applications
Coating R & D and testing, inks performance evaluation, Adhesive Spreader, laboratory sample prepative, quality control
Standards

Steps
The specific operation steps are not provided in the data.
Notice
* Make sure Mayer Rods is clean and drying before use.
* Select the appropriate wire diameter model according to the required wet film thickness.
* It is necessary to maintain a constant speed and smooth pull during operation to ensure uniform film.
* After use, it should be thoroughly cleaned with a suitable solvent in time to avoid paint residue.
* Please keep it safe to avoid bumping to protect the wrapped wire.
