Overview
The LENETA ASM-2 Sag resistance tester is a professional test device designed according to the ASTM D4400 standard to evaluate the Sag resistance performance of paints, coatings and other coatings. The instrument tests by a falling blade with a continuous high gap, correlating the notch gap with the degree of sinkage, and obtaining a quantified Sag resistance index. The higher the index, the better the sagging performance of the coating. It has become an important equipment for paints laboratories in the United States and around the world to conduct related tests.
Features
1. Design according to authoritative standards and implement ASTM D4400 test methods.
2. Made of stainless steel, strong and durable.
3. Provide quantitative Sag resistance index, the results are objectively comparable.
4. Suitable for industrial OEM coatings, the film thickness test range covers 25 to 150 microns.
Principle
The instrument is based on the Working Principle of the ASTM D4400 standard. When tested, a descending blade with a series of continuous high gaps is used to swipe across the wet-film. The degree of sag of the coating is related to the notch gap of the blade, and by measuring the sinkage formed, a value called the Sag resistance index can be calculated, allowing Basis Weight to evaluate the ability of the coating to resist sag on vertical surfaces.
Applications
Paints laboratory, coating development and quality control, industrial OEM coating performance evaluation
Steps
1. Prepare the paint sample to be tested and ensure its uniformity.
2. According to the test requirements, the coating Spreader is applied to the specified substrate to form a wet-film.
3. Immediately place the descending blade of the Sag resistance tester vertically on the wet-film.
4. Operate the instrument in a standard manner so that the blades run across the wet-film.
5. After the coating sag stabilizes, observe and measure the sinkage pattern formed.
6. According to the corresponding relationship between the gap gap and the degree of sinkage, calculate or look up the table to obtain the Sag resistance index.
Notice
Tests are conducted under standard environment conditions to ensure the accuracy of the results.
• Be familiar with the specific test procedures and requirements of the ASTM D4400 standard before operation.
• Ensure that the test blades are clean and free of residual paint, so as not to affect the next test results.
• Spreader wet-film process needs to be rapid, uniform, and start testing within a specified time.
• The instrument should be cleaned and maintained in time after use to maintain its accuracy and lifespan.
