Solid density measurement is based on the Archimedes principle by measuring mass a in air and mass b in liquid, combined with auxiliary liquid density Po and air density Pl (0.0012g/cm ³), using the formula P (solid density) = [a/(a-b) ] (Po-Pl) + Pl. Known densities (e.g. water or ethanol) can be used as auxiliary liquids for measurement.
