Overview
The U24-002-C conductivity recorder is a device for the measurement and recording of salinity, temperature and conductivity in saline water environments. It is suitable for environments with relatively small changes in salinity (+/- 5000 μS/cm), such as saline water bays, and can also be used to detect salinity events such as ocean upwelling, heavy rain and discharge events, and its data can be used to compensate for the salinity data of the HOBO U26-001 dissolved oxygen recorder.
Features
1. Non-contact Sensor, long service life.
2. Sensors are designed for easy access to clean and remove bubbles.
3. Two Measurement ranges are available: 100 to 10,000 μS/cm (small range) and 5000 to 55,000 μS/cm (large range).
4. The shell is made of Acetal Resin material, which is resistant to seawater corrosion.
5. Equipped with HOBOware Pro software, it supports start/end calibrating to compensate for contamination, and can easily convert conductivity to salinity according to the PSS-78 standard.
6. Equipped with USB Optical inspection interface, it can download data at high speed and reliably in humid environment.
7. Compatible with HOBO data download dock BASE-U-4 and U-DTW-1.
Principle
The recorder measures the conductivity of the water body through a non-contact Sensor and combines it with a temperature sensor to obtain temperature data. The recorder stores the collected conductivity and temperature Data in the built-in memory. Users can connect to a computer through the USB Optical inspection interface, download the data using the HOBOware Pro software, and convert the conductivity data to salinity values according to the Practical Salinity Scale 1978 (PSS-78) standard.
Applications
Saline water bay environment monitoring, ocean upwelling event detection, rainstorm runoff salinity monitoring, discharge event salinity monitoring, salinity compensation data for dissolved oxygen recorders
Standards
CE certification
Steps
1. Use HOBOware Pro software to start and calibrate the recorder.
2. According to the monitoring requirements, set the appropriate conductivity Measurement range (small or large range) and Sampling interval in the software.
3. Deploy the recorder to the target water area (maximum depth 70 meters).
4. The recorder automatically collects and stores conductivity and temperature data according to the setting.
5. After the monitoring, take out the recorder and connect it to the computer through the USB Optical inspection interface.
6. Use HOBOware Pro software to download data, and can perform salinity conversion and data viewing.
Notice
• When the salinity change of the monitored water exceeds +/- 5000 μS/cm, the accuracy should refer to the product specification drawing C.
• Monthly on-site calibrations are recommended for better data accuracy.
The recorder is designed for use in both outdoor and underwater environments.
• In water bodies with large fluctuations in salinity, measurement errors may increase accordingly.
