Overview
YONGLIDA LS Wear resistance tester is used to test the Abrasion Resistance of organic coatings (such as aluminum composite plates, metallic paints, automotive coatings, etc.) under standard conditions. The principle is to let the specified particle size sand fall from a fixed height to the test sample through the conduit until the coating is worn through and exposed to the substrate. The wear resistance performance of the coating is evaluated by weighing the amount of sand required to destroy the film and the standard amount of sand consumed per unit Coating thickness.
Features
1. Designed for testing organic coatings Abrasion Resistance.
The test method conforms to the American ASTM D968-83 and Chinese JG/T133-2000 standards.
3. Adopt shakeout friction method to simulate specific abrasion conditions.
4. Compact structure, Dimensions of 230 * 200 * 1500mm, machine weight 25kg.
Principle
The instrument continuously impacts test the coating on the surface of the sample by letting standard sand grains of a certain specification fall freely from a fixed height (through a catheter with a length of 914mm and an inner diameter of 19mm). Abrasion Resistance of the coating is quantitatively evaluated by accumulating the consumption of sand grains until the coating is worn through and exposed to the substrate.
Applications
Aluminum composite plate coatings, metallic paint, automotive coatings and other organic coatings abrasion resistance testing
Standards
ASTM D968-83、JG/T133-2000
Steps
1. Prepare the test sample and measure its Coating thickness.
2. Add the standard sand to the funnel with a volume of 3L.
3. Adjust the instrument so that the sand can freely fall through the conduit from the specified height (conduit length 914mm).
4. Continue testing until the sample coating is worn through to expose the substrate.
5. Weigh and record the total amount of standard sand consumed by grinding through the coating.
6. Abrasion Resistance Index is calculated according to the amount of sand consumed and Coating thickness.
Notice
• The standard sand required for this instrument needs to be purchased separately by the user.
• Coating thickness measurement is accurate before the test.
• When operating, ensure that the conduit is vertical and the shakeout height meets the standard requirements.
• Regularly check the funnel and ducts to prevent blockage from affecting the sand flow.
The calculation of test results shall be carried out in strict accordance with relevant standards.
