Overview
The polystyrene calibrate block (model: STDP4) is an important tool for verifying the accuracy and operation of film thickness gauges, especially for meeting ISO standards and internal quality control requirements. Precision verification in the test field is required by many organizations before each use of film thickness gauges, and frequent verification during use. This certified standard traceable to national measurement agencies from DeFelsko is designed for this purpose.
Features
Used to verify the accuracy and operation of any Type 1 (mechanical) and Type 2 (electronic) magnetic, eddy current or ultrasonic film thickness gauge.
2. Suitable for calibrated laboratory, field or factory workshop and other environments.
3. The standard consists of four plates mounted in a protective gluing agent, and the substrate is steel or aluminum.
4. Polystyrene Film thickness standard contains 4 calibrated blocks and comes with a sturdy acrylic storage case.
5. Each standard is serialized individually, traceable to NIST or PTB, and includes a calibrated certificate.
6. Metric and imperial units are both certified and marked.
7. Zero version is available, which can be used for certified coating metal sheets and certified polystyrene blocks.
Principle
The polystyrene calibrate block is used as a physical standard for known Film thickness, and is used for comparison with the measurement reading of the film thickness gauge. The user places the thickness gauge probe on the surface of the calibrate block for measurement. By comparing the displayed value of the instrument with the certified nominal Film thickness value on the calibrate block, the measurement accuracy and operation of the thickness gauge can be verified to ensure the accuracy of subsequent on-site measurements.
Applications
Film thickness gauge calibrating, ISO standard compliance verification, internal quality control, laboratory calibrating, field test verification, factory floor equipment verification
Steps
1. Turn on the film thickness gauge and select the correct Measurement mode (if applicable).
2. Remove the required polystyrene calibrating block from the acrylic storage box.
3. Clean the surface of the calibrated block to ensure that there is no dust or oil.
4. Place the film thickness gauge probe smoothly and vertically on the surface of the calibrated block for measurement.
5. Record the measurement value displayed by the film thickness gauge.
6. Compare this measurement with the certified Film thickness value (and error range) marked on the calibrated block.
7. Determine whether the thickness gauge needs to be adjusted or calibrated according to the comparison results.
8. After use, put the calibrated block back in the acrylic storage box and store it properly.
Notice
• Check that the surface of the calibrated block is clean, free of scratches or damage before use.
• Ensure that the probe is perpendicular to the surface of the calibrated block and in stable contact during measurement.
• The calibrated block should be protected from exposure to corrosive chemicals, extreme temperatures, or mechanical Impact.
• Please send it for inspection regularly according to the valid period on the calibrated certificate to ensure the continuous validity of the traceability of the value.
• This product is a precision standard, only for calibrating and verification, do not use for Miscellaneous purposes.
• Suitable model prompt: It can be adapted to PosiTector100D and other models, please refer to the instrument manual for details.
