Overview
The polystyrene calibrate block (model: STDP5) is an important tool for verifying the accuracy and operation of film thickness gauges, especially for meeting ISO standards and internal quality control requirements. Precision is required by many organizations to be verified in the test field each time a film thickness gauge is used, and checked frequently during use. The DeFelsko-certified block has measurements traceable to national Measurement authorities and is ideal for completing this verification process.
Features
Used to verify the accuracy and operation of any Type 1 (mechanical) and Type 2 (electronic) magnetic, eddy current or ultrasonic film thickness gauge.
2. Suitable for calibrated laboratory, field or factory workshop and other environments.
3. The standard consists of four plates mounted in a protective gluing agent, and the substrate is steel or aluminum.
4. Polystyrene Film thickness standard 4 calibrated blocks provided by sturdy acrylic storage box.
5. Each standard block is serialized individually, traceable to NIST or PTB, and contains a calibrated certificate.
6. Metric and imperial units are both certified and marked.
7. Zero version is available, which can be used for certified coating metal sheets and certified polystyrene blocks.
Principle
Film thickness values of polystyrene calibrated blocks are precisely calibrated and traceability as a physical standard for known Film thickness. The user uses a film thickness gauge measurement of these blocks to compare the thickness gauge reading with the nominal Film thickness value certified on the standard block to verify that the thickness gauge Measurement accuracy and operation are normal.
Applications
Film thickness gauge calibrating, field accuracy verification, factory floor quality control, calibrating laboratory, meeting ISO and internal quality control requirements
Standards
ISO standard, NIST traceability, PTB traceability
Steps
1. Make sure the film thickness gauge is turned on and the basic settings are completed.
2. Film thickness polystyrene calibrated block is removed from the acrylic storage box.
3. Measurement mode according to thickness gauge type (magnetic, eddy current or ultrasonic).
4. Place the thickness gauge probe smoothly and vertically in the measurement area of the standard block.
5. Read the measurement value displayed by the thickness gauge.
6. Compare this measurement with the certified nominal Film thickness value on the calibrated block (e.g. 1.5mm/60mils, 2.5mm/100mils, etc.).
7. Determine whether the accuracy of the thickness gauge meets the requirements based on the comparison results.
8. After the test is completed, put the calibrated block back in the protective box and store it properly.
Notice
* Please check whether the calibrated block and calibrated certificate are within the valid period before use.
* Avoid impact, scratching or contact with corrosive substances when operating the calibrating block to prevent damage or affect accuracy.
* Ensure that the probe is clean, in good contact and perpendicular to the surface of the standard block during measurement.
* Please select the correct calibrated block substrate (steel or aluminum) according to the thickness gauge type for verification.
* The calibrated block should be stored in the acrylic protective box provided and placed in a drying and normal temperature environment.
* If the deviation between the measurement value and the certified value exceeds the allowable error of the instrument, it is recommended to re-calibrate or repair the thickness gauge.
* This product is an accuracy verification tool and is not a substitute for regular professional calibrating of the thickness gauge itself.
