Overview
STDA3 calibrated coated metal sheet is a standard for verifying the accuracy of film thickness gauges under the DeFelsko brand. The product is made of epoxy-based Resin coating on a nonmagnetic aluminum substrate. Its certified measurements can be traced back to national measurement agencies. It is an important tool for meeting ISO and internal quality control requirements and verifying thickness gauge Precision and operation in the field or in the laboratory.
Features
Used to verify the accuracy and operation of any Type 1 (mechanical) and Type 2 (electronic) magnetic, eddy current or ultrasonic film thickness gauge.

Principle
This product is used as a standard reference for known Film thickness, and its Coating thickness is precision certified. Users use the film thickness gauge to make measurements in the designated area of the standard plate. Measurement accuracy and operation of the thickness gauge are verified by comparing the reading of the thickness gauge with the standard value certified by the standard plate.

Steps
1. Turn on the film thickness gauge and select the correct Measurement mode (e.g. eddy current mode for nonmagnetic substrates).
2. Clean the measurement area of the standard board to ensure that there is no dust or oil.
3. Place the thickness gauge probe vertically and smoothly on the designated coating area of the standard plate.
4. Read the measurement value displayed by the thickness gauge.
Compare the measurement value with the certification standard value of the corresponding area on the standard plate (e.g. 75 μm, 125 μm, 250 μm, 500 μm).
6. According to the comparison results, determine whether the accuracy of the thickness gauge is within the allowable error range (+/- 0.43μm or +/- 0.017mils).
Notice
• Before use, check whether the surface of the standard board is clean and intact to avoid scratches or contamination affecting the calibrating result.
• Ensure that the thickness gauge probe is in vertical contact with the standard plate surface for accurate readings.
• Select the correct calibrating mode and substrate settings based on thickness gauge type (magnetic, eddy current or ultrasonic).
• The calibrating operation should be carried out under stable environment conditions, avoiding extreme temperatures or humidity.
• Keep the calibrated certificate properly, and its serial number corresponds uniquely to the standard board, which is an important basis for traceability.
• Avoid impact, bending or contact with corrosive substances to prevent damage or change in Film thickness.
