Overview
The plastic calibrated diaphragm is an economical alternative to coated metal plates and is suitable for all Type 2 electronic Coating thickness gauges. Its calibrated test piece has an accuracy of +/- 2 μm (+/- 0.08 mil) and can be used for calibrating film thickness gauges when placed on a smooth metal surface (zero plate). Non-calibrated plastic test pieces (foils) are used for quick operation inspection and practice measurement of the instrument and can be placed on uncoated metal substrates, but are not suitable for use with magnetic pull-out thickness gauges.
Features
1. Simulate the coating on a specific substrate material or shape, which is convenient for regular verification of the performance of the measuring tool and meets the requirements of some international test methods.
2. Suitable for all type 2 electronic Coating thickness gauges.
3. Protects the probe from damage or premature abrasion when placed on a hot or abrasive surface.
4. Film thickness measurement can be placed on the top of the soft or Tack film, without the thickness gauge probe to press down the film.
5. Dimensions are 3 x 8 cm.
Principle
The plastic calibrated diaphragm works by simulating the Coating thickness. The calibrated test piece has a known Film thickness with an accuracy of +/- 2 μm, which can be measured and calibrated to this known Film thickness when placed on a smooth metal surface (Zero Plate). Non-calibrated foils allow users to practice and quickly operate inspections on metal substrates.
Applications
Coating thickness measurement and calibrating, instrument performance verification, operation practice
Standards
Some international testing methods
Steps
1. Prepare a smooth metal surface (zero plate).
2. Place the plastic calibrated diaphragm (calibrated test piece) on the metal surface.
3. Use the Type 2 Electron Coating thickness gauge for measurements above the diaphragm to calibrate the instrument or verify its performance.
4. For non-calibrated foil, it can be placed on an uncoated metal substrate for quick operation inspection or practice measurement.
Notice
• Non-calibrated plastic specimens (foils) are not suitable for use with magnetic pull-out thickness gauges.
• The accuracy of calibrated specimens is +/- 2 μm (+/- 0.08 mil).
• Product size is 3 x 8 cm.
• Measurement range is 250 μm.
