Overview
The Defelsko STDCS60 plastic calibrated diaphragm is an economical alternative to coated metal plates for calibrating film thickness gauges. Its calibrated accuracy is +/- 2 μm (+/- 0.08 mil). When placed on a smooth metal surface (zero plate), the film thickness gauge measures its calibrated Film thickness. Non-calibrated plastic test pieces (foils) are used for quick operation inspection of the instrument and user practice measurement. They can be placed on uncoated metal substrates, but are not suitable for magnetic pull-out thickness gauges.
Features
1. Simulate coatings on specific substrate materials or shapes to facilitate periodic verification of gauge performance according to international test method requirements.
2. Suitable for all type 2 electronic Coating thickness gauges.
3. Protects the probe from damage or premature abrasion when placed on a hot or abrasive surface.
4. Film thickness measurement can be placed on the top of the soft or Tack film, without the thickness gauge probe to press down the film.
5. Dimensions are 3 x 8 cm.
Principle
The plastic calibrated diaphragm provides a known, precise reference standard for film thickness gauges by simulating a specific Coating thickness. When placed on a smooth metal surface (Zero Plate), the film thickness gauge probe takes measurements and the instrument displays a reading consistent with the nominal Film thickness of the diaphragm to achieve instrument calibrating or performance verification.
Applications
Coating thickness measuring instrument calibrating, performance verification, operation practice
Standards
Some international testing methods
Steps
Prepare a smooth metal surface as a zero plate.
2. Place the plastic calibrated diaphragm flat on the zero plate.
3. Using the applicable Type 2 Electron Coating thickness gauge, align the probe and place it on the diaphragm for measurement.
4. Read the Film thickness value displayed by the thickness gauge and compare it with the nominal Film thickness of the diaphragm to calibrate or verify the instrument.
Notice
• Non-calibrated plastic specimens (foils) are not suitable for magnetic pull-out thickness gauges.
• Please ensure that the surface of the metal plate is smooth and clean before use.
• Please place the diaphragm flat during measurement to avoid wrinkles or tilts affecting the Measurement accuracy.
• Do not use beyond its Measurement range (1500μm).
• Pay attention to distinguish the use of calibrated diaphragm and non-calibrated test piece (foil).
