Overview

Plastic calibrated diaphragms are an economical alternative to coated metal plates for calibrated film thickness gauges. They have a calibrated accuracy of +/- 2 μm (+/- 0.08 mil). When placed on a smooth metal surface (zero plate), they can be used for measurement of calibrated Film thickness. Non-calibrated plastic specimens (foils) are used for quick operation checks and practice measurements of the instrument. They can be placed on uncoated metal substrates, but are not suitable for use with magnetic pull-out thickness gauges.

Features

1) Simulate coatings on specific substrate materials or shapes to facilitate periodic verification of gauge performance and meet the requirements of some international test methods. 2) Applicable to all Type 2 Electronic Coating thickness gauges. Protect the probe from damage or premature abrasion when placed on a hot or abrasive surface. 4) Film thickness measurement can be placed on top of a soft or Tack film without the need for a thickness gauge probe to press down the film. 5) Dimensions are 3 x 8 centimeters.

Principle

This plastic calibrated diaphragm works by simulating a coating of a specific Film thickness. When it is placed on a smooth metal surface (Zero Plate), the film thickness gauge takes a measurement of its known Film thickness value, enabling calibrating or performance verification of the instrument.
