Overview
MS6 Portable Glossiness Meter is a gloss measurement instrument of JND brand. It is designed and manufactured with reference to international standard ISO 2813 and Chinese national standards GB/T13891, GB9754, GB7706, GB8807. Its technical parameters comply with ASTM D2457 and ASTM D523 standards. All performance indicators meet the requirements of the second-level working machine in the national Measurement verification code JJG 696-2002. Traceability of Gloss values can be obtained from the gloss benchmark of Shanghai Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology (SIMT).

Principle
The Glossiness Meter emits a beam of light at a specific angle (60 °) to the measured surface and measures the intensity of the reflected light in the direction of its mirror reflection. The instrument compares the measured reflected light intensity with the reflected light intensity of a standard plate (whose gloss value passes through the reference Traceability), and after internal calculation and processing, the gloss value of the measured surface is displayed directly on the display screen in the form of gloss units (GU).

Steps
1. Install a 1.2~ 1.5V AA (No. 5) rechargeable or alkaline battery.
2. Press the power button to turn it on.
3. According to the measurement needs, ensure that the instrument measurement window (light spot 9 * 18mm) is clean.
4. Fit the instrument measurement port smoothly and tightly on the surface of the tested sample.
5. Press the measurement button for measurement and wait for the reading to stabilize.
6. Read and record the gloss value (GU) displayed on the display.
7. After the measurement is completed, press the power button to shut down.
Notice
• Before measurement, make sure that the instrument measurement window and the surface of the tested sample are clean, drying and oil-free.
• When measuring, the instrument should be firmly and tightly pressed vertically on the surface of the sample to avoid tilt or gaps.
• The instrument should avoid severe vibration, impact, and contact with corrosive substances.
• When not in use for a long time, please remove the battery.
• In order to ensure the accuracy of measurement, it is recommended to use the standard plate to calibrate the instrument regularly (please refer to the instrument manual for the specific calibrating period and method).
• Please use batteries that meet the specifications, and do not mix old and new batteries.
