Overview
LICHEN LND-1 Benchtop Viscometer is a widely used viscosity cup in China. It is designed and manufactured according to the requirements of the national standard GB/T1723 "Coating Viscosity Determination Method". It is a Portable instrument for conditional measurement of coating viscosity, which is suitable for viscosity measurement of coating products with a viscosity of less than 150 seconds. The principle is that after filling a specific container with the tested liquid, the measurement of the time required for it to flow out of the standard tube hole is used to calibrate the conditional viscosity of the liquid in seconds.
Features
1. Flow velocity cup is made of pure brass material.
2. The surface adopts chrome plating process to prevent oxidation.
3. The column is made of stainless steel.
Principle
The viscosity of the Tu-4 Viscometer measurement is conditional viscosity. The principle is that a certain amount of sample flows out of a hole of a specified aperture at a certain temperature, and the viscosity of the liquid is calibrated by measurement of the outflow time (seconds). The measured sample outflow time t (s) can be converted into a kinematic viscosity value μ (mm ²/s) by a specific formula: when t < 23s, t = 0.154 μ + 11; when 23s ≤ t ≤ 150s, t = 0.223 μ + 6.0.
Applications
Coating product viscosity measurement
Steps
1. Make sure the instrument is clean and drying.
2. Fill the specific container (capacity 100ml) of the viscosity cup with the paint sample to be tested.
3. At the standard temperature, allow the sample to flow freely from the standard tube hole (4mm diameter of the flow hole).
4. Use stopwatch measurement of the total time required from the beginning of the sample to the first interruption of the streamer, in seconds (s).
5. According to the measured outflow time t (s), the kinematic viscosity value μ (mm ²/s) is converted against the applicable formula.
Notice
• This instrument is suitable for the measurement of paint products with viscosity below 150 seconds.
• Ensure that the sample temperature meets the standard requirements before measurement, because temperature has a significant impact on viscosity.
• Before and after use, the viscosity cup should be thoroughly cleaned, especially the flow hole part, to prevent residues from affecting the Measurement accuracy.
• Keep the instrument horizontally placed during operation to ensure a stable outflow process.
• According to the measured outflow time range (t < 23s or 23s ≤ t ≤ 150s), choose the correct formula for viscosity conversion.
• The instrument is a precision measurement tool and should be handled with care to avoid collisions, especially the flow hole.
• When not in use for a long time, it should be cleaned and properly stored to prevent surface oxidation or damage.
