Overview
This instrument is a Cobb absorbency tester designed according to the basic parameters and requirements specified in GB/T1540-1989 Paper and Cardboard Water Absorbency Determination Method (Cobb Method), model ZY-XS-KB. The instrument is suitable for measuring the Water Absorbency of various paper or Cardboard surfaces. Calculate the Cobb water absorption value C = (G2-G1) × 100 by measuring unit area of paper and Cardboard at a certain pressure and temperature within a specified time (in g/m2), where G2 is the sample mass after water absorption and G1 is the sample mass before water absorption. It is a conventional instrument for Water Absorbency Test on Paper and Cardboard Surface, also known as Paper Surface Absorption Weight Tester.
Features
1. Designed according to GB/T 1540-1989 standard to ensure test accuracy
2. The test area is accurate to (100 +/- 0.2) cm ², and the cylinder height is 50mm
3. Using Cobb (Cobb) Test Method to Professionally Determine Water Absorbency on Paper and Cardboard Surface
4. Precise control of roller mass to 10 +/- 0.5kg, length 200 +/- 0.5mm
5. Compact shape, size 480 * 400 * 420mm, weight 28kg, easy to use in laboratory
Principle
This instrument is based on the Cobb (Cobb) test method Working Principle. By placing the sample in a cylinder with a specified test area (100 +/- 0.2cm ²), under specific pressure (provided by a 10 +/- 0.5kg pressure roller) and temperature conditions, the surface of the sample is in contact with water for a specified time. Measurement of sample mass changes before and after water absorption. Calculate the Cobb water absorption value according to the formula C = (G2-G1) × 100, where G2 is the sample mass after water absorption and G1 is the sample mass before water absorption. The result is expressed in g/m2.
Applications
Paper and Cardboard Surface Water Absorbency Determination
Steps
1. Prepare the sample and measure the mass G1 before water absorption
2. Place the specimen in the test cylinder to ensure that the test area is 100 +/- 0.2cm ²
3. Apply the specified pressure to bring the sample into contact with water for a specified time
4. Take out the sample and measure the mass G2 after water absorption
5. Calculate the water absorption value of Cobb according to the formula C = (G2-G1) × 100
Notice
• This instrument is not suitable for accurately evaluating the writing performance of paper or Cardboard
• Before the test, make sure that the Basis Weight of the absorbent paper is within the range of 200~ 250g/m2
• During operation, pay attention to the accurate mass of the pressing roller to 10 +/- 0.5kg to avoid overrun
• Keep the instrument clean to prevent impurities from affecting the test results
• Operate in strict accordance with GB/T1540-1989 standards
