Overview
The SHIBO QAG Anti-Sag Meter (complete set) is a special instrument for the determination of the relative sag of Paints. It evaluates the Sag resistance performance of coatings by scraping wet-films of different Film thicknesses. It is not suitable for testing varnishes and powder coatings.
Features
1. Contains three multi-groove coating wipers, covering the test range of 50-275um, 250-475um, and 450-675um.
2. Each coating scraper can scrape 10 parallel wet-films of different Film thicknesses, with a film width of 6mm, a spacing of 1.5mm, and a thickness difference of 25um between adjacent Films.
3. Designed for accurate measurement of film maximum wet film thickness without hanging.
Principle
The instrument scrapes the Paints sample on the test plate through a coating scraper to form wet-film strips of different Film thicknesses. The test plate is immediately placed vertically, so that the strip film is transverse and thin at the top and thick at the bottom. After the film surface dries, observe the sagging situation. When a film thickness film does not flow into the next film thickness, it means that the film thickness does not flow.
Applications
Paints sagging test
Steps
1. Test at a temperature of 23 +/- 2 ° C and a relative humidity of 50 +/- 5%.
2. According to GB3186 standard sampling.
3. Keep the sag tester and test plate clean and drying.
4. Put the test plate on the platform, the coating scraper is placed on the top, and the scale surface faces the operator.
5. Stir the sample well, put it in the front opening of the scraper, and hold both ends to scrape smoothly and continuously.
6. Immediately after scraping, place the test plate vertically, with the film transverse and thin at the top and thick at the bottom.
7. film surface drying observation sag, the film does not flow to the next film thickness of the film is not hanging.
8. The same sample was tested in parallel with three test plates, and the results were expressed by the maximum non-wet film thickness consistent with not less than two samples.
Notice
• Not suitable for sagging tests of varnishes and powder coatings.
• Test conditions require strict control of temperature and humidity.
• The coating and scraping operation should be smooth and continuous to ensure that one end of the coating scraper is in close contact with the guide edge.
• After the test plate is placed vertically, the film should be kept horizontal and thin at the top and thick at the bottom.
• When observing the sag, the area within 20mm at each end of the film is not counted.
• Parallel experiments require at least two samples to have consistent results.
