The instrument generates an electrical pulse to excite the Probe (transducer) to emit ultrasonic waves into the workpiece under test. When ultrasonic waves propagate inside the workpiece and encounter defects (such as crazing, pores) or interfaces, reflection, refraction or scattering occurs. The instrument receives the defect echo signal converted back by the Probe, and after high-speed ADC sampling and digital processing, the waveform is displayed on the true color display screen.
