Overview
The YT-SL1000 paper Tear Strength tester is a professional instrument used by YANTE brand to determine the internal tear Impedance (Tear Strength) of paper. Its Working Principle is based on the work consumed by tearing a certain length of specimen. It is usually tested by overlapping 16 sheets of paper, and the force required to tear a single specimen is calculated (expressed in grams). The instrument is suitable for Encasement paper, writing paper, photographic paper, industrial technical paper and Cardboard of appropriate thickness.
Features
1. Standard pendulum design, Measurement range is 10~ 1000mN, Graduation 10mN.
2. High Accuracy, Indication Error is +/- 1% in the range of 20% to 80% of the upper limit of measurement, and +/- 0.5% FS outside the range.
3. Repeatability is good, the indication repeatability error is < 1% in the range of 20% to 80% of the upper limit of measurement, and < 0.5% FS outside the range.
4. Precise control of key dimensions, such as tearing arm 104 +/- 1mm, tearing initial angle 27.5 +/- 0.5 °, tearing distance 43 +/- 0.5mm.
5. Equipped with specimen holder and Paper cutter, it can easily hold the specimen and cut out the standard incision.
6. Designed with horizontal adjustment screws to ensure the installation level of the instrument and ensure the accuracy of the test.
7. Accessories weights are provided for calibrating scale accuracy.
Principle
The instrument measures Tear Strength based on the amount of work it takes to tear a specimen for a length of time. Typically 16 specimens are overlapped and the total tear distance is 86mm (specimen tear length is 43mm). The total work required to tear these papers is divided by the product of the number of specimens and the tear distance to obtain the force required to tear a single specimen (expressed in grams). The instrument scale is designed according to this condition. For thicker paper, reduce the number of sample layers (e.g. 8, 4, 2, 1 sheet) and calculate the actual Tear Strength according to the formula a = sp/n, where a is Tear Strength (mN), s is the average scale reading, p is the conversion factor (16), n is the number of sample layers.
Applications
Encasement paper, writing paper, photographic paper, industrial technical paper, Cardboard of appropriate thickness
Steps
1. Use the horizontal adjustment screw to adjust the instrument to the horizontal position.
2. Place the specimen between specimen holders (9) and (12).
3. Move the cutter holder (8) and use the Paper cutter to cut the specimen into a 20 mm incision.
4. Raise the sector body (7) and its appendages to the test position and fix them by the swing limiter.
5. Press the button (6), release the fan (7), and swing it to the right to complete the tear.
6. Read the value indicated by the pointer (5) on the reading scale (13).
7. According to the number of sample layers, if necessary, calculate the actual Tear Strength according to the formula a = sp/n.
Notice
* To ensure accurate reading, it is recommended that the pointer be within 200-600mN of the scale after tearing.
* For thicker paper and Cardboard, less than 16 specimen layers should be used for testing.
The pointer is fixed by friction, and it should be ensured that it can be stopped reliably at any position, but the friction force must not exceed the specified value.
* The instrument should work under the conditions of temperature 20~ 40 ℃ and relative humidity ≤ 85%.
* Use Accessories weight to regularly calibrate scale accuracy.
