The instrument works based on the principle of ultrasonic flaw detection (UFD). Ultrasonic pulses are emitted through Probe into the workpiece under test (such as porcelain insulators), and reflection occurs when the sound wave encounters internal defects (such as crazing, pores) or workpiece boundaries. The instrument receives and processes these echo signals, and realizes the detection, localization, evaluation and diagnosis of defects by analyzing the position, amplitude and waveform characteristics of the echoes. According to the characteristics of pillar porcelain insulators, the instrument specially adopts special technologies such as creeping wave detection method, small angle longitudinal wave detection method and double crystal transverse wave detection method.
