The instrument uses the Impact body in the Impact device (e.g. D type) to impact the surface of the sample at a certain speed under the action of elastic force, and measures the ratio of the rebound velocity of the Impact body at a distance of 1mm from the surface of the sample to the Impact velocity. The ratio is defined as the Richter Hardness value.
