Overview
The RDS 18 #3/8 "double wire-wound Applicator rod is a professional experimental Spreader tool developed and produced by RDS company in the United States with more than 80 years of technical experience. The product is made of wear-resistant stainless steel, with a rod diameter of 9.5mm, an effective application width of 300mm, and a prepative wet film thickness of 41.1 microns. The double wire-wound design is especially suitable for high viscosity Coatings, which can effectively reduce blockage and eliminate stitches. It is a word-of-mouth product in the industry favored by many domestic users.
Features
1. Originating from RDS in the United States, it has more than 80 years of professional experience in the development and production of wire-wound drawdown bars.
2. Made of wear-resistant stainless steel, it is sturdy and durable.
3. Double wire-wound design, optimized for high viscosity coatings, reducing clogging and stitching.
4. High film accuracy, up to 0.1 micron level.
5. Wide and shallow groove design is conducive to the flow of thick and heavy coatings, making the coatings more fully soaked.
Principle
The Applicator rod features a double wire-wound construction that creates wide and shallow grooves by wrapping a finer wire around the tip of a larger stainless steel rod. This design allows high-viscosity or heavy coatings to flow better when Spreader. The smaller tip wire creates smaller discontinuities in the Coating stream, allowing the Coating to soak and spread more completely, ultimately forming a precise, uniform thickness wet-film on the substrate.
Applications
Lab Coatings Spreaders, inks testing, Adhesive films, New material development
Steps
1. Coating to be tested is placed on the substrate in front of the coating rod.
2. Ensure that the coating rod is in stable contact with the surface of the substrate.
3. Pull the coating rod at a uniform speed and appropriate pressure to spread the film formation through the wire-wound groove on the rod.
4. After the Spreader is completed, a wet-film coating of the specified thickness can be obtained.
Notice
• Make sure the coating rod and substrate surface are clean and drying before use.
• Spreaders need to maintain uniform strength and speed to ensure film thickness conformity.
• Choose the appropriate coating rod model according to the coating viscosity. This model is suitable for higher viscosity coatings.
• After use, it should be cleaned in time to prevent the coating from drying up and blocking the wire-wound groove.
• Please keep it properly when storing to avoid bumping and damaging the wire-wound structure.
