The RDS 20 #3/8 "Open Applicator rod is a professional Mayer Rods imported from the United States, manufactured by the open wire-wound process. Its effective application width is 30cm, and it can be coated with a prepative wet film thickness of 45.7μm. This product is suitable for handling higher viscosity Coatings, designed to reduce clogging and eliminate stitches to improve Spreader effect.

Principle
The open bar forms wide and shallow grooves through spaced encircling wires. When Spreader operation is performed, these grooves allow high viscosity or heavy coatings to flow through better, reducing clogging problems due to coatings build-up. At the same time, the smaller wire diameter creates less discontinuity in the coatings flow, helping the coatings to soak and spread more completely, resulting in a uniform wet-film.

Notice
• Open bars may not be as durable as double wire-wound bars, and maintenance is required when using them.
Spreader for high viscosity coatings may not be the best choice for conventional viscosity coatings.
• After use, it should be cleaned in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking the groove.
