Overview
The RDS 3 #3/8 "open-ended Applicator rod is a professional Spreader tool with an open wire-wound process with a prepative wet film thickness of 6.9μm. The rod has an effective application width of 30cm and is suitable for handling higher viscosity Coatings to reduce clogging and eliminate stitches. As an American RDS brand product with a history of more than 80 years, it has a good reputation in the field of film experimentation.
Features
1. Adopt open wire-wound process, suitable for high viscosity Coating, reduce clogging.
2. Wide and shallow groove design helps heavy coatings flow better.
3. Smaller wire diameter (0.08mm) can produce smaller interruptions in the Coating flow, resulting in more complete Coating penetration.
4. More economical than double wire-wound bar.
5. Produced by professional manufacturers, the material is stainless steel, which is sturdy and durable.
Principle
The open bar forms wide and shallow grooves through spaced, encircling wires. This design allows higher viscosity coatings to flow better in the Spreader, reducing clogging issues due to coatings build-up. At the same time, the smaller wire diameter creates less discontinuity in the Coating, helping the Coating to more fully penetrate and spread out, resulting in a uniform wet-film coating.
Applications
Special film experiment scenarios, different industry segments
Steps
1. Ensure that the coating rod and substrate surface are clean.
2. Coating an appropriate amount at the beginning of the Spreader.
3. Pull the coating rod smoothly along the surface of the substrate at uniform speed and pressure.
4. Spreader, clean the coating rod in time.
Notice
• This product is an open bar, although suitable for high viscosity Coatings, but the durability may not be as good as double wire-wound bars.
• After use, it needs to be cleaned thoroughly in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking the groove.
• Maintain uniform speed and steady pressure during operation to ensure uniform film thickness.
• Please select the appropriate wet film thickness model according to the experimental requirements.
