The MCW-2000B eddy current thickness gauge uses the eddy current Measurement principle. This principle uses the high-frequency electromagnetic field generated by Probe to induce eddy current in a conductive substrate (such as aluminum, copper and other non-ferrous metals). The strength of eddy current is affected by the thickness of nonconductive coatings (such as paints, plastics, rubber) or anodic oxide coatings on the surface of the substrate. By measuring eddy current changes, the instrument can easily and nondestructive calculate the thickness of the coating.
