Overview
The Cobb Absorbency Tester (Model ASR-5684) is designed according to the GB/T 1540-2002 standard for the determination of the Water Absorbency (Cobb value) of the surface of various paper or Cardboard. The instrument evaluates the Water Absorbency of the surface of the paper or Cardboard by measuring the amount of water absorbed by the surface area of the paper or Cardboard under specified conditions. It is a conventional instrument for the determination of the surface absorption weight of the paper, but it is not suitable for the accurate evaluation of writing performance.
Features
Design according to the national standard GB/T 1540-2002 to ensure the standardization of testing.
2. Using Cobb (Cobb) test method, professional determination of paper and Cardboard surface water absorption.
3. The key component parameters are accurate, such as the test area (100 +/- 0.2) cm ², the pressure roller mass 10 +/- 0.5kg, to ensure the accuracy of the test.
4. Reasonable structure design, Dimension 480 * 400 * 420mm, weight 28kg.
Principle
The instrument works based on the principle of Cobb method. Place a sample with a specified area in the instrument, and let the surface of the sample contact with water for a specified time under a certain pressure and temperature. By measuring the mass change before and after the sample absorbs water, the Cobb water absorption value (Cobb value) is calculated according to the formula C = (G2-G1) × 100, that is, the amount of water absorbed per unit area (g/m2).
Applications
Suitable for Determination of Water Absorbency on Various Paper or Cardboard Surfaces
Steps
1. Prepare the sample to ensure it meets the test requirements.
2. Weigh and record the mass (G1) before the sample absorbs water.
3. Place the sample in the instrument test area and add the specified amount of water (100 +/- 5ml).
4. Allow the sample to absorb water under the specified conditions.
5. After the water absorption is completed, remove the sample and remove the excess moisture from the surface.
6. Immediately weigh and record the mass (G2) of the sample after absorption.
7. Calculate the water absorption value of Cobb according to the formula C = (G2-G1) × 100.
Notice
• This instrument is not suitable for accurately evaluating the writing performance of paper or Cardboard.
• The test requires the use of absorbent paper that meets the requirements (quantitative 200~ 250g/m2).
• During operation, ensure that the test area, pressure roller, water volume and other parameters meet the standards.
• Weigh the sample quickly after absorbing water to avoid water evaporation affecting the accuracy of the results.
• Please operate and maintain according to the instrument specifications and maintenance requirements.
