Overview
LD-XSXY type Cobb absorbency tester is a conventional instrument for water Absorbency test on the surface of paper and Cardboard, also known as paper surface absorption weight tester. The instrument adopts Cobb (Cobb) test method, which is used to measure the water absorbed by the surface of paper and Cardboard per unit area under a certain pressure and temperature within a specified time, in g/m2, the calculation formula is C = (G2-G1) × 100, where C is the Cobb water absorption value, G2 is the sample mass after water absorption, and G1 is the sample mass before water absorption.
Features
1. Design according to ISO535 Paper and Cardboard Water Absorbency Determination (Cobb Method) and GB/T1540-2002 Paper and Cardboard Water Absorbency Determination Method (Cobb Method)
2. Suitable for Determination of Water Absorbency on Various Paper or Cardboard Surfaces
3. The test area is (100 +/- 0.2) cm ², and the cylinder height is 50mm
4. The contact between the cylindrical torus and the sample is smooth
5. Basis Weight of absorbent paper is 200~ 250g/m2, absorption speed is 75mm/10min
6. Roller width 200 +/- 0.5mm, roller mass 10 +/- 0.5kg
7. Dimensions 280 × 320 × 310mm, Net weight 26.5kg
Principle
The Cobb (Cobb) test method is used to calculate the water absorption value of Cobb by measuring the water absorbed by the surface of paper and Cardboard under a certain pressure and temperature within a specified time. Specifically, by weighing the sample mass difference before and after water absorption, multiply it by 100 to get the water absorption per unit area.
Applications
Paper and Cardboard Surface Water Absorbency Determination
Standards
ISO535、GB/T1540-2002
Steps
Prepare the sample and weigh the mass G1 before absorption
2. Place the specimen in the instrument and perform a water absorption test under the specified pressure, temperature and time conditions
3. Take out the sample and weigh the absorbed mass G2
4. Calculate the water absorption value of Cobb according to the formula C = (G2-G1) × 100
Notice
• This instrument is not suitable for accurately evaluating the writing performance of paper or Cardboard
• When the single-layer Basis Weight of absorbent paper is less than 200~ 250g/m2, multiple layers can be stacked to meet the requirements
• Ensure that the contact between the cylinder ring surface and the sample is smooth
• Operate in strict accordance with the specified test conditions
