Overview
The Defelsko PosiTest FM magnetic Coating thickness gauge is a mechanical Coating thickness gauge that requires no power supply. It measures the thickness of coatings by contacting the measured object with a magnetic Probe, and directly displays the measurement value through the scale dial. Measurement range is 0~ 80mils (about 0~ 2000µm). The Probe is made of wear-resistant cemented carbide, which guarantees long service life and long-lasting magnetic.
Features
1. Probe is a high wear-resistant cemented carbide with a long service life.
2. Textured shell, resistant to Impact, water, acid, solvent.
3, Probe is rare earth cobalt magnet, with long-lasting magnetic, no battery.
4. Coating thickness gauge.
5, V-shaped groove Probe housing design and unique instrument base, easy to measure the thickness of cylindrical samples.
6, GO/NO-GO (start/disable) button can be preset for quick measurement.
7. Probe placement and turntable swirl/spin only need one finger operation, which is simple and convenient.
8, calibrated simple, adjustable center with scale plate.
Principle
The PosiTest FM magnetic Coating thickness gauge works based on the principle of magnetic Induction. The Probe has a rare earth cobalt magnet built in. When the Probe touches the surface of the object under test, the magnetic attractive force between the magnet and the magnetic substrate (such as steel) changes due to the presence of the coating (non-magnetic material). Adjust the distance between the Probe and the substrate through the swirl/spin wheel until the magnetic attractive force reaches a critical point (hear a "click"), at which point the value indicated by the dial pointer is the thickness of the coating.
Applications
Hot dip galvanized, hard chrome, paints, enamel on steel
Steps
1. Place the magnetic Coating thickness gauge vertically on the measured object so that the Probe can contact the surface of the measured object.
2. Press the GO/NO-GO button of the PosiTest FM magnetic Coating thickness gauge (that is, the gold button on the thickness gauge).
3. Gently turn the wheel until you hear a "click". At this time, the thickness indicated by the dial pointer is the thickness of the coating to be measured.
Notice
• When measuring, the instrument should be placed vertically on the surface of the measured object.
• Probes must be in full contact with the tested surface.
• When operating, gently turn the wheel and read the value after hearing the "click" sound.
This model is suitable for nonmagnetic coating measurements on magnetic substrates such as steel.
• The instrument does not require batteries and relies on Probe magnetics to work.
• Measurement range (0~ 80mils/0~ 2000µm) and accuracy requirements.
• Simple to calibrate, can be calibrated by adjustable center with graduated disc.
