Overview
The Defelsko PosiTest GM mechanical Coating thickness gauge is an instrument designed for the measurement of nonmagnetic Coating thickness on magnetic metal substrates without batteries or charging. Measurement range is 0~ 8mils (approx. 0~ 200µm), suitable for thickness measurement of Eletroplating, thin paint films, phosphating films on steel, etc., and is equipped with a V-groove Probe housing for easy measurement of coating on the surface of the cylinder.
Features
1. No battery or charging required, easy to operate.
2. Mechanical Measurement principle, stable and reliable.
3. Measurement range 0~ 8mils (0~ 200µm) for thin coatings.
4. Equipped with V-shaped groove Probe housing, can measure the surface coating of the cylinder.
5. High accuracy, within 0.8mils (20µm) accuracy of 0.04mils (+/- 1µm).
Principle
The PosiTest GM mechanical thickness gauge operates on the principle of magnetic Induction. When the instrument Probe comes into contact with a nonmagnetic coating on a magnetic metal substrate, the change in Magnetic flux is sensed through the internal mechanical structure and converted into a Coating thickness reading, which is displayed by the dial pointer.
Applications
Eletroplating, thin paint film, phosphating film on steel measurement
Steps
1. Place the thickness gauge vertically on the surface of the tested object to ensure that the Probe contacts the coating.
2. Press the GO/NO-GO button (gold button) on the thickness gauge.
3. Gently turn the wheel until you hear a "click". At this time, the value indicated by the dial pointer is the thickness of the coating to be measured.
Notice
• Make sure that the thickness gauge is placed vertically on the measured surface during measurement.
• Probes need to be in good contact with the coating surface under test.
• Measurement results within 0.8 mils (20 µm) with accuracy of 0.04 mils (+/- 1 µm) and beyond this range with accuracy of +/- 5% of the reading.
The instrument is suitable for nonmagnetic coating measurement on magnetic metal substrates.
