Overview
PUSHEN XB-I 6μm Mayer Rods is a laboratory wire-wound Spreader tool designed for the preparation of ultra-thin film wet-film with a preparatory 6 μm wet film thickness. It is suitable for proofing and testing of Resin, coatings, inks and other materials to provide uniform and accurate film thickness samples.

Principle
The wire rod coating applicator uses stainless steel wires of different diameters to wrap around a certain length of stainless steel steel bars, and the gap between the wires determines the film thickness of the film. In use, the liquid to be tested is placed on the substrate, scraped with bar, and the steel wire gap is used to control and form a uniform wet-film coating with accurate film thickness.
Applications
Laboratory proofing and testing of paints, varnishes, inks, glues, Resin, coatings, inks and other products.
Steps
1. Place the sample to be tested on a flat substrate (e.g. test cardboard).
2. Place Mayer Rods at the starting end of the sample to ensure contact with the substrate.
3. Apply uniform pressure and scrape the bar across the sample at a steady speed to form a wet-film.
4. According to the test requirements, subsequent drying, observation or physical property testing can be carried out.
Notice
* The calculation formula of wet film thickness (wet film thickness = Coating Weight g/(Density × Solid content%) per square meter) is for reference only. The actual Film thickness is affected by various factors such as product elongation, viscosity, and Spreader rod type.
* To ensure sample mass, the Spreader operation needs to be smooth and uniform to obtain comparable test results.
* After use, it should be cleaned in time to keep the bar gap open.
