Overview
The PosiTector GLS glossmeter (model: GLS206085-3) is a Handheld electronic instrument designed for the measurement of surface reflectance and glossiness. It consists of a body and a Probe, available in standard and advanced models, and is suitable for a variety of environments such as on-site or shop floor.
Features
1. Easy to use: Measurement speed is fast (60 + readings per minute), with 2.8-inch Impact-resistant color Touchscreen and redesigned keyboard for quick navigation; meter help function and RESET factory reset function are provided.
2. Powerful functions: with statistical mode, real-time display/update of average, Standard Deviation and other data; support screenshots and HiLo alarm functions; Battery life is extended by 30%, and equipped with USB port and PosiSoft software for easy data transmission and reporting.
3. Sturdy and durable: all-metal Probe structure and IP65 Protection Rating shell, dustproof and waterproof; ergonomic rubber handle design, and equipped with shock absorption protection rubber leather case, strong impact resistance.
4. Accurate measurement: provides calibrated certificates traceable to NRC; supports automatic diagnostics and automatic calibration on boot, and can store multiple calibrated standards.
5. Multi-purpose: The main body is compatible with a variety of PosiTector Probes, which can be converted into Miscellaneous instruments such as Coating thickness gauges; supports multiple units, display languages and automatic swirl/spin displays.
Principle
The PosiTector GLS glossmeter evaluates a surface's Glossiness by measuring its specular reflectance. The instrument emits rays of light to the measured surface at specific angles (e.g. 20 °, 60 °, 85 °) and receives its specular reflection. The Glossiness Value (GU) is derived by calculating the ratio of the reflected light intensity to the reflected light intensity of the standard plate. The instrument has built-in calibrated standards and supports Automatic calibration to ensure measurement accuracy.
Applications
Suitable for high-gloss, semi-gloss, matte surface gloss measurement, haze (haze index) calculation, quality control, fast pass/fail inspection, large surface quantization scanning
Standards
ASTM C584、ASTM D523、ASTM D4039、ISO 2813、ISO 7668、JIS Z 8741、AS/NZS 1580.602.2
Steps
1. Turn on the instrument.
2. Automatic calibration by placing the Probe vertically on the calibrated standard plate (tile).
3. Probe smoothly fitted to the surface to be measured for measurement.
4. View readings, statistics, or use scan mode via Touchscreen.
5. The measurement data can be automatically stored (with timestamp) and transferred to a computer or mobile device via USB, WiFi or Bluetooth.
Notice
• Ensure that the measurement surface is clean and flat, and the Probe fits tightly to the surface.
When calibrating and measuring, avoid direct bright light or drastic changes in environment light.
• Operating temperature of the instrument is 0~ 45 ℃, and condensation should be avoided.
• Clean the Probe measurement window after use and store the instrument in a drying place.
• Advanced models support wireless functions, and you need to pay attention to relevant settings and data security when using them.
