Overview
HYL-101 Scott Volumeter Loose Bulk Density Tester is a special test instrument designed and manufactured according to the national standard GB5060-85 and the international standard ISO 3932/2. It is suitable for metal powders that cannot flow freely through the 5mm funnel or are susceptible to the change of characteristics by the vibration funnel method. It is specially used to determine its Loose Bulk Density.
Features
1. Designed and manufactured according to national standard GB5060-85 and international standard ISO 3932/2, the test standard is reliable.
2. Suitable for a variety of metal powders, especially powders that cannot flow freely through conventional funnels or are susceptible to vibration.
3. The core components are made of 304 stainless steel, which is sturdy and durable.
4. The cloth box is equipped with four quartz Glass baffles with an inclination angle of 25 °, which can effectively delay the falling speed of the powder and reduce the Impact force, thereby reducing the test error.
Equipped with 1.18mm stainless steel sieve, Cube funnel and standard cylindrical cup (volume 25 +/- 0.05ml), the structure is complete.
Principle
The instrument uses the Scott volumetric method. After the metal powder sample passes through the upper funnel and sieve, it enters the cloth box with four inclined quartz Glass baffles. The powder stream touches the baffles in turn, and the falling speed is delayed and the Impact force is reduced. The powder then passes through the Cube funnel and falls into a standard cylindrical cup of known volume below. The Loose Bulk Density is calculated by measuring the mass of the powder filled with the cylindrical cup.
Applications
Loose Bulk Density Testing of Various Metal Powders
Standards
GB5060-85、ISO 3932/2
Steps
1. Prepare the instrument to ensure that all components (upper funnel, sieve, cloth box, Cube funnel, cylindrical cup) are clean and drying.
2. Place the cylindrical cup in the receiving position at the bottom of the instrument.
3. Pour the metal powder sample to be tested into the upper funnel.
4. The powder passes through the sieve, the quartz Glass baffle in the cloth box, and the Cube funnel in turn, and finally flows into the cylindrical cup naturally.
5. After the cylindrical cup is completely filled with powder, scrape off the excess powder from the mouth of the cup with a scraper, so that the powder surface is flush with the mouth of the cup.
6. Carefully remove the cylindrical cup and weigh the glassgraduates with scales of powder mass.
7. Calculate the Loose Bulk Density based on the known volume of the cylindrical cup (25 +/- 0.05 ml) and the powder mass.
Notice
Before testing, ensure that all parts, especially quartz Glass baffles and cylindrical cups, are clean and free of contamination.
• When pouring powder, avoid artificial vibration or Impact instruments to ensure the free flow of powder.
• When using a scraper to flatten the powder at the mouth of the cup, the operation should be gentle to avoid compaction or bringing out the powder.
The instrument should be placed on a stable, vibration-free surface for operation.
• Regularly check whether the sieve is blocked and whether the quartz Glass baffle is clean and not damaged.
• The cylindrical cup is a precision part, and it should be prevented from bumping and deforming during use and storage, so as not to affect the volume accuracy.
