Overview
TQC VF2121 wide-channel Fineness Gauge is a single-channe Grindometer produced by TQC in the Netherlands. It is made of Swiss 1.2805 tool steel and has excellent Abrasion Resistance and corrosion resistance. The product has a large groove width and an accuracy of +/- 2 microns. The surface is smooth and easy to maintain. It can be operated by hand and belongs to a graded slope design. It is available in both micron and Hegemann scale units.
Features
1. Made of Swiss 1.2805 tool steel, Abrasion Resistance is better than ordinary stainless steel
2. Good anti-corrosion performance
3. High Accuracy +/- 2 microns
4. Wide groove design
5. The surface is fine and smooth, easy to maintain
6. Handheld operation
7. Graded slope design
8. Available in both micron and Hegemann scale units
Principle
Fineness detection is done by grinding pigments into finer particles and dispersing them in a fluid device. The physical properties of the dispersion are called "fineness". Using a wide-channel Grindometer, pour the sample into the deep end of the groove, use a drawdown blade to scrape towards the shallow end at an appropriate angle and a steady speed, and observe the scale value corresponding to the rough particle position on the surface of the Fineness Gauge after scraping to quickly determine the fineness of the pigment.
Applications
Paints, Coatings, pigments, raw materials, plastics, Printing inks, chocolate, ceramics, paper, food
Standards
ASTM D1210、ASTM D1316、DIN 53203、DIN EN ISO NF21524、FTMS 141 a M.4411.1 ISO1524、NFT 30 046
Steps
1. Wash the wide-channel Grindometer and drawdown blade with the specified solvent and dry with cotton yarn
2. Fully mix the sample that meets the standard viscosity of the product with a blender
3. Drop a few drops of the sample into the deepest part of the Grindometer groove to fill the groove with a little excess
4. The double hand-held drawdown blade is transversely placed on the upper end of the Grindometer, so that the drawdown blade is perpendicular to the surface, and is pulled from the deep part of the groove to the shallow part at a suitable speed
5. Immediately (no more than 5 seconds) pinch the fineness meter and tilt it horizontally, so that the line of sight is at an angle of 15-30 degrees to the plane of the trench. Observe the scale value of the particles uniformly exposed in the trench at the light
Notice
• Observe immediately after scraping, no more than 5 seconds
• When observing, an oblique fineness meter is required, and the line of sight is at a 15-30 degree angle to the groove plane
• The sample should be able to fill the groove with a slight excess
• The drawdown blade should be perpendicular to the surface of the gauge
• The scraping speed should be stable and appropriate
• Wash and dry with solvent before use
