Overview
The TQC Zahn Cup VF2229 is a stainless steel Handheld viscosity test cup with a filter diameter of 4.3mm, suitable for the measurement of liquids in the viscosity range of 200-1200cSt, and the outflow time is 20-80 seconds. The product is designed in accordance with international standards. Appearance and specifications meet relevant application standards, with rigid plastic box protection.
Features
1. Stainless steel material, durable and suitable for medium, high and low viscosity liquid testing
2. The filter diameter is 4.3mm, accurately matching the viscosity range of 200-1200cSt
3. Accuracy and repeatability in accordance with international standards
4. Handheld, immersion operation for quick viscosity assessment
5. Comes with hard plastic box and soft protective material for easy storage and portability
Principle
The Zahn Cup is based on the principles of Newtonian mechanics and is designed to quickly assess the viscosity and conformity of liquids that meet or approach Newtonian mechanical properties (e.g. paints, inks, coatings). The kinematic viscosity is calculated by measuring the time the liquid flows out of the cup, and international standards specify precise dimensional tolerances and usage methods to ensure data accuracy and repeatability.
Applications
Paints, inks, pigments, Coatings, Tack liquids and mixtures
Standards
ASTM D1084、ASTM D4212
Steps
1. Ensure that the temperature of the liquid to be tested is 25 degrees Celsius, and the fluctuation does not exceed +/-0.2 degrees Celsius. Adjust the temperature if necessary
2. Select the VF2229 model according to the estimated viscosity range and completely immerse the Zahn Cup in the liquid to be tested
3. Use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the liquid in the cup and record it
4. Remove the thermometer
5. Use your index finger to lift the handle ring vertically, and start timing when leaving the liquid level. The height of the cup is not higher than 15 cm on the liquid level.
6. Stop timing when the beam actually stops flowing for the first time
Notice
- Use soft cloth to clean viscosity cups and avoid abrasion tools such as wire brushes and sandpaper
- Clean the outflow hole to remove residue and prevent scratching the inner surface
- Clean properly after each use (except for sexual repeability tests)
- Establish safety regulations before testing to ensure compliance with hazardous materials operating regulations
- Proper maintenance can prolong service life
