Overview
The distillation device of LICHEN Technology HR-500 nitrogen determination instrument works on the principle of Kjeldahl nitrogen determination and belongs to the KDN series of products. The heating mode of this product is divided into two types: electric heating tube heating and Electrode heating. The former is suitable for different water sources, and the latter is suitable for water sources with relatively low conductivity.

Principle
HR-500 Nitrogen Analyzer distillation works based on the principle of Kjeldahl nitrogen determination, digests the sample through concentrated sulfuric acid, steam distillation in an alkaline environment, Boricacid absorbs the released ammonia, and finally determines the endpoint by indicator titration, so as to calculate the nitrogen content in the sample.

Steps
1. Sample digestion: The sample is digested with concentrated sulfuric acid.
2. Steam distillation: The digested sample is placed in an alkaline environment for steam distillation.
3. Boricacid absorption: Use Boricacid solution to absorb the ammonia released by distillation.
4. Titration and determination: Use the indicator for titration, and determine the titration end point according to the Color change.
Notice

• Steam water sources require purified or distillation water.
• The sample volume should be controlled as solid < 5g or liquid < 20ml.
• Determination of nitrogen content ranges from 0.02-98% (or 0.1-220 mg).
