Overview
The NDT380 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge uses the pulse reflection ultrasonic measurement principle, which is suitable for the measurement of the thickness of various materials where ultrasonic waves can propagate inside at a constant speed and can be reflected from the back. The instrument can accurately measure various plates and processed parts, and is widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, shipbuilding, aviation, aerospace and other fields. It also provides basic, high temperature, cast iron and precision types to adapt to different applications.

Principle
The NDT380 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge is based on the pulsed reflection ultrasonic measurement principle. The instrument emits ultrasonic pulses to the material under test, which travel at a constant speed inside the material and reflect when they encounter the back or internal interface of the material. The instrument calculates the thickness of the material by measuring the time difference between the ultrasonic emission and the reflection echo received, combined with the known Speed of sound.

Steps
1. Select the appropriate Measurement mode (EE/IE) according to the tested material.
2. Set or calibrate the Speed of sound (range 1000~ 9999m/s).
3. Couple the Probe (diameter 6mm) vertically and stably to the surface of the material under test.
4. Read the thickness value displayed on the display screen (2.4 inches) (metric/imperial units can be selected).
If you need to save the data, you can store the measurement results (up to 500 sets) or transfer them to the computer through the USB interface.
Notice
• Ambient Temperature of instrument 0~ 50 ℃, relative humidity should be less than 90%.
• Ensure that the Probe is well coupled to the surface under test to obtain accurate readings.
• Before measurement, set the Speed of sound correctly according to the material type.
• The instrument is powered by 2 1.5V dry batteries, please pay attention to the power.
• For coated materials, IE mode can be used to pass through the coating (can pass through about 1mm coating) for measurement.
• Measurement accuracy: +/- 0.005mm when thickness H < 10mm; +/- (0.005mm + H/100) mm when thickness H ≥ 10mm.
• Do not use beyond the Measurement range (0.15~ 20mm) or under specified environment conditions.
• The instrument weight is 220g and the size is 151 * 76 * 33mm. Please keep it properly.
